Monument Valley's "Left Mitten"

Steven Ritts.
If you're a fan of "Western" movies you have almost certainly seen
images of the amazing place in the desert southwest known as
"Monument Valley". After all, countless "cowboys" have ridden past
those famous buttes over the years. Today's picture features Left
Butte, one of the world's most recognizable geologic features.
Monument Valley's famous buttes are actually remnants left over from
thousands of years of erosion. The striking beauty of these red
sandstone pillars and mesas have captured our collective attention
for centuries. We inhabit a magnificent planet, and it's hard to
look at this little section of it without feeling a profound sense
of awe.
Photographer Steven Ritts captured this image with the following
camera and settings:
Camera: Olympus E-500
Focal length: 33mm
Shutter speed: 1/250 second
Aperture: f/9
ISO: 400

Very nice photo Mr. Ritts. I have been gone on vacation for a couple
of weeks and today is the first time I have been able to visit
TodaysPhoto.org for that period of time. Yours is a wonderful photo
to come back to! Beautiful colors and great detail.

What a beautiful picture. The tone of the sandy, red soil contrasts
exquisitely with the gorgeous blue sky.
