Today's picture features the cover of the book "Lemon Days and
Strawberry Nights", the first published work of my wonderful
cousin, author Sheila Campbell. Although written entirely in third
person format and revolving around a character named "Sunnie", the
"story" is actually an autobiographical novel based upon Sheila's
own life.As I read the book and the story unfolded, I began to
recognize many of the places, characters and events, but there
were so many others that I had never known about. I knew that
Sheila's life had been difficult at times, but as I turned the pages
of this enthralling book I began to understand just how difficult it
had been. No person should ever have to endure some of the things
she experienced, but she did so without ever losing her great love
for her children, her family, or her Lord.
From her childhood growing up on Stony Creek in rural Carter County,
Tennessee, Sheila's life took many twists and turns that had her
living at various times across the mountain in Shady Valley, across
yet another mountain in Mountain City, even in Richmond, Virginia
and Lakeland, Florida, and she embarked on every move with optimism
and hope for a happier life with the husband she had married as a
teenager and loved with all her heart - but he always seemed to find
a way to break her heart yet again.
My memories of Sheila when we were growing up are of this very
beautiful, intelligent, and outwardly happy young teenage girl, and
she is still a very beautiful person today. And now, after reading this
"story" which describes the most trying times of her life, I realize
just how remarkable she really is.

Nights" for yourself, you'll find it at many bookstores or on
