A casual glance at today's picture might lead you to believe that
you are looking at a lake covered with ice and snowdrifts, but in
reality there is no snow or ice to be found anywhere in the area.
What you're really looking at is a low-lying marsh covered with
numerous pure-white sand dunes at Brazil's Lencois Maranhenses
National Park.
This area floods rather frequently, and photographer Wilson Rocha
just happened to capture this intriguing image at a time when the
flood waters amidst the dunes made this sub-tropical location look
quite like a winter wonderland! What a fine example of the many
varied types of terrain that dot the surface of our amazing planet!

That is a really cool photograph. I did think it was ice, maybe a
glacier. Wilson Rocha did an excellent job in creating that photo.
You never know where on Earth you'll be, or what you'll see, when
you open TodaysPhoto.org.
