A colorful Lodi, Virginia sunset

Cheria and I were on our way home from church a few nights ago when
we just happened to look to the right and see one of the most
gorgeous sunsets we had ever seen. A strong thunderstorm had rolled
into our area a bit earlier, and just as we made it to the tiny
community of Lodi, Virginia the storm clouds began to move out...
just in time for the setting sun to paint the western sky a
spectacular shade of orange.
With mountains rising in the distance to the east of the highway and
gently rolling farmland lying to the west, the Lodi area offers all
who travel down State Highway 91 (Monroe Road) a magnificent view in
either direction, especially early in the morning and late in the
evening when God is using the sun to work His magic on the
southwestern Virginia landscape. And so it was on that beautiful
late July evening just minutes after we had left His house and
headed for our own.
I feel so blessed to be able to live right here in rural Washington
County, Virginia. Even though I spent several years living in
various places around the globe, I was born here and I guess I'll
die here. After all, this is home. It always has been and it always
will be... at least until the Lord decides that it's time to call me
into His holy presence.
