Reflections of Lofoten

The essence of photography is the process of capturing light and
storing the resulting image on film or a memory card, later to be
printed or displayed in some fashion. There are countless factors
that affect the way that light enters a camera lens, and today's
picture by photographer Frank Hansen serves as a wonderful example
of several of them.
In this beautiful photograph from
Lofoten, Norway you can see
how the heavy, low cloud cover contrasts sharply with the light
expanse of sky on the right, and the rich color of the house makes
it the focal point of the image. But perhaps the most striking thing
about the image is the beautiful reflection in the puddle. It just
goes to show that most any body of water is capable of creating a
gorgeous reflection, even a lowly puddle left over from melting snow
or a rainfall.
The camera and settings used to capture this image are as follows:
Camera: Canon EOS 400D Digital SLR
Focal length: 24mm
Shutter speed: 1/100 of a second
Aperture: f/6.3
ISO: 100
