Mother's Loving Hands

The bond between a mother and her newborn child is like no other. As
far as a baby is concerned, the entire world rests in mom's loving
hands. "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world!" is a
timeless truth that bears itself out with every generation of new
babies, and with good reason. When God placed upon women the
responsibility of childbirth, He did so with the expectation that
they would love their children with all their hearts and protect
them at all costs, even if it means sacrificing their own lives in
the process.
Becoming a mother requires the assumption of an awesome
responsibility. Giving birth is a life-changing event - in ways both
good and bad. A brand new human being is brought into the world with
no capabilities whatsoever of taking care of herself. That's where
mommy comes in. Mommy feeds her baby when she's hungry, diapers her
when she's messy, comforts her when she is frightened, and holds her
with loving hands until she drifts off to sleep. When a baby is in
her mother's arms, all is well with the world. When she isn't, there
is always something lacking.
The beautiful baby girl in today's picture is our three-day-old
granddaughter Madison, and Cheria and I are simply thrilled to have
her in our lives. Just as with her big sister
Olivia, we'll do our very
best to love her and make her as happy as we possibly can. And yes,
of course we love holding her. But as much as we love her, we know
that our touch could never replace the loving touch of her
mom. That special bond is unique to the two of them. That's the way God intended it, and that's the way it will
always be.
Tami is Madison's mom, the loving hand that rocks her
cradle and rules her tiny world.
