Madison wearing a pair of hot-pink sunglasses

Being able to help raise a child is one of God's most precious
blessings, and now that He has given us our beautiful granddaughter
Madison, Cheria and I are getting to watch her experience a whole
heap of "firsts". For example, a couple of weeks ago little Madison
took her first "stroll" on the
Virginia Creeper Trail, and a couple of days ago she
participated in her very first
Plum Alley Day festival!
On Saturday, Abingdon's Plum Alley was jam-packed with people
walking from one end of it to the other, stopping all along the way
to check out the offerings of the vendors and chat with friends and
acquaintances. After all, Plum Alley Day is all about "bumping into"
old friends and making new ones while helping the Kiwanis club raise
money for the large number of charities it helps support.
Of course there were plenty of cute little babies being pushed
around in their strollers by proud parents and grandparents, but I
can honestly say that our own little Madison was by far the cutest
of them all as she lay there all decked out in a pretty little pink
outfit accented by a pair of super-cool pink infant sunglasses. And
oh, by the way - just to prove that I'm not being even a wee bit
partial, I lost count of all the "ooohs and ahhhs" I heard as one
person after another stopped to admire the newest addition to our
family!
Even though the kidney stone I was carrying around with me sent a
searing pain through my back with every step, I really enjoyed
watching everyone fawn over our little bundle of joy, and as it
often does, the walking helped me pass that nasty stone. All in all,
I would have to say it was a great day!
