Picture of the day - June 21, 2007 My mom holding her great-granddaughter Madison

Today's picture features two of the most important people in my
life: my wonderful mom and my precious two month old granddaughter
Madison. A few days ago, Cheria and I took our daughter Tami and the
grandkids over to "the valley" to visit with mom for a while, and
tiny Madison spent most of her time there on mom's lap - which was
exactly where she belonged, of course!
Mom has always loved kids, and counting the eight children of her
own plus several grandchildren, "greats" and "great-greats", she has
either raised or helped raise dozens of them during her
nearly eight decades of life. Madison is the latest addition to the
"great" bunch, and she and mom get along quite well as witnessed by
this precious family photo.
This simple snapshot means a great deal to me because it bridges
together my past, present and future via the love and affection
displayed between two generations of very special gals who are
chronologically separated by a virtual lifetime. The world is a lot
different now than it was when mom was Madison's age, but the love
that God instills into the hearts of His children is just as strong
and meaningful as it has ever been... and I think He gave mom an
extra portion of it!
I will always cherish the photos that Cheria and I take of Madison
and Olivia as they interact with mom, and I'll always be grateful
that my precious granddaughters were blessed with the opportunity to
get to know and experience the love of such a wonderful
great-grandmother.
