Picture of the day - January 21, 2009
"Monarch Butterfly"

Photo courtesy of Kriss Szkurlatowski. (Click the photo for a larger view).
With all the wintry scenes I've been featuring lately, I thought it
might be nice to take a gander at something to remind us all of the
warm weather we can look forward to come spring. After all, although
winter weather makes for some pretty spectacular images, the cold
temperatures and everything that comes with them can get to be a
little trying before long.
Today's picture by photographer Kriss Szkurlatowski features a
beautiful monarch butterfly "working" on a flower blossom, a scene
that repeats itself over and over in many places around the globe
during the warmer months. I just love these colorful little
creatures, and before we even realize it spring will have sprung and
we'll start seeing them flittering hither and yon in our back yards,
pasture fields and parks!

I like the color in today’s picture as opposed to all of the gray we
have been seeing at our place!! The bokeh is also very nice in this
photo. They are predicting more snow this week end. I am sure
looking forward to Spring!!

Spring seems so far away, but in reality it's just around the
corner. Thanks for reminding me that better (i.e. warmer) days are
coming.
