Let's play... Monopoly!

Joseph Cestra.
Today's picture features an endearing icon of my childhood: the
wheeling and dealing that takes place during a game of
Monopoly. Back when I was growing up, I spent many an hour
playing this exiting game of high finance, winning some and losing
some, but always learning and honing my skills.
It's been a few years since I last sat down at a Monopoly board, but
I still love the game and greatly miss the times that my sister
Helen and I played it along with other members of my family so long
ago. That's why I was so drawn to this wonderful picture by
photographer Joseph Cestra, and he has graciously agreed to allow me
to feature it as a "Picture of the Day"! Along with the
image, he also submitted the following background information:
"My favorite game growing up was Monopoly. After getting married
in September, my wife and I decided to start a "game night". The
first game we chose to buy was a limited edition "Onyx" version of
Monopoly. I felt as if I were 8 years old again as I ripped the
plastic
from the box.
As we set up the game to start playing, I quickly grabbed my camera
and took some close up shots - around 50 or so - until I got the
shot
just right. After some touch-ups in Photoshop CS3, I found my
winner.
Now framed and hanging on my wall, I still get excited when
I see this
photograph!
This shot was taken with a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi equipped with
the 18-55mm kit lens, with bounce flash from a Canon 430EX external
flash unit." --Joseph Cestra

The Picture of the day was great. What a great idea! I am a
grandmother of six and a mother of five, and it brings a lot of
laughs remembering the days when I played Monopoly with my children
and now my grandchildren. I also think it shows how crazy the market
and everything is going with all the ups and down. The photographer
who took this picture did a great job.

I love the angle of the photo... Boardwalk, next we will be passing
GO! and collecting $200! Isn't it so true - a photo can speak a
thousand words.... and provoke just as many thoughts and memories.
Joseph has really captured a truly important and exciting part of
the game! I hope to see much more of his work!!

Great photo - I think that's my shoe from when I was a child lol. I
do love the game and he could not have gotten a better shot. Thanks
Joey for bringing back some memories of a great childhood.
