"Quest to see Mont Blanc"

The most breathtaking view of
Mont Blanc is from the summit of the
nearby peak
Aiguille du Midi, and if you ever decide to go and enjoy
this view in person you have two rather adventurous choices for
getting up there. Here is photographer Marc Lantos to explain:
"This photo was taken at the top of the Aiguille du Midi.
Formerly the
world’s highest cable car, the Aiguille du Midi now
holds the title for
the highest vertical ascent cable car in the
world.
The peak ranks in at astonishing 3842 meters (12605 feet), and it
takes 20 minutes to reach this peak via the cable car, for an
overall
ascent of over 2800 meters (9186 feet) from the 1035 meter
(3395
foot) base. Though most tourists, like myself, decide to take
in the
beauty of Mont Blanc from the viewing platform, there are
many
mountain climbers who set out to brave the rugged terrain each
day.
These are just a few of those climbers." --Marc Lantos

Wow, that's an amazing sight, but I don't think I'll be seeing it in
person either. Great job Mr. Lantos.
