A Beautiful Mt. LeConte Sunrise

The Great Smoky Mountains are a true national
treasure. Spectacular mountain scenery awaits you around virtually
every bend in the road, providing a feeling of peace and total
relaxation as well as a vivid reminder of just how beautiful our
great country really is.
Photographer Jamie Barnes took today's wonderful picture of a Mt.
LeConte sunrise during a recent visit to
Great Smoky Mountains
National Park. The following is his story behind the image:
"This picture was taken at sunrise from Myrtle Point on Mt. LeConte
in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A buddy of mine and
myself made the trip to the Lodge on top of Mt. LeConte for an
overnight stay to celebrate turning 40 this year.
I love going to the
LeConte Lodge. There is no electricity there, and
everything
is lit by oil lanterns and heated by propane heaters in
the cabins. That
means no computers, TV, phones, etc. It’s a great
way to escape the
real world for a while. The evening and morning
entertainment are
watching the sunset and sunrise.
I was the only
person present for sunrise at Myrtle Point on this
particular
morning. It was very peaceful enjoying God’s creation with
the
beautiful mountains surrounding me. I have written a
trip report
with other pictures should you wish to peruse it." I hope you
enjoy
the picture.
