Mount Rogers And Whitetop Mountain

Mount Rogers and Whitetop Mountain

A few weeks ago I featured Mount Rogers and Whitetop Mountain as separate "Pictures Of The Day", and those images brought in a number of very nice comments. Since so many of you liked those pictures, I thought you might be interested in seeing the two sitting side-by-side, rising high into the air on the horizon in southwestern Virginia.

The individual pictures featured earlier were "cropped" from this image. If you look at the mountains in the distance, you'll see Whitetop on the right and Mt. Rogers on the left, Virginia's two highest peaks - and they're close enough to each other to be captured in the same picture taken from Meadowview, Virginia (the rural community of Cedarville lies in the foreground). Just imagine waking up to this view every morning!

Mount Rogers and Whitetop are favorite destinations for locals and visitors alike, and you'll find hikers and nature lovers on both peaks all throughout the year enjoying the spectacular scenery and breathtaking views.
