"Twas The Night Before Christmas..."

Yesterday was our anniversary, and to celebrate, Cheria and I
spent the day enjoying a series of Christmas shows at
Dollywood.
First, we stopped off at the Pines Theatre to take in a
wonderful Christmas concert by the ever-popular Southern Gospel
group
The Kingdom Heirs. These guys know how to sing praises to the
Lord as well as anyone, and they sure put on a great show yesterday
afternoon when they sang a mixture of great gospel music and secular
Christmas tunes.
Next, we walked over to the nearby Showstreet Palace Theatre
where we enjoyed a delightful production called "Christmas In The
Smokies", a fast-paced musical performed by an ensemble of some
of the finest young singers and actors I have ever seen. Every one
of those young men and women are amazing singers with voices just as
good as any star in Nashville, and their collective performance of "Christmas
In The Smokies" was nothing short of spectacular!
Finally, to cap off the evening we made our way back to the Pines
for the 8:15 showing of Dollywood's unique musical adaptation of "Twas
The Night Before Christmas", a wonderful play showcasing the
amazing talents of yet another group of fine young singers and
actors.
In Dollywood's show, a brother and sister each get stranded in
separate towns far from their Tennessee home. Predictably, in the
end jolly old Saint Nick comes through by providing a way for each
of the youngsters to get home just in time for Christmas. But while
the storyline held little mystery, the masterful performances of the
cast made for a very entertaining show. Today's picture features the
scene where "Nick" helps the young sailor (left) find a spot on a
booked-solid flight back home.
Cheria and I had a wonderful time during our visit to Dollywood. In
addition to the great shows, we also enjoyed walking around the park
photographing the ubiquitous Christmas decorations and millions of
colorful lights. Christmas is always a magical time of year at
Dollywood, and this year they have made it even better than ever!
