"Old Junker"

Rick Rouse.
The other day
Cheria
and I found ourselves driving down U.S. Highway 58 on the way from
Bristol, Virginia to the rural community of
Hiltons, and after crossing the steel bridge
that spans the north fork of the Holston River we spotted a narrow
country road on our left that appeared to snake its way along the river bank.
Since we had some time to kill
we decided to follow it to see where it would take us.
Well, that little road turned out to be a dead-end, but we did
manage to stumble upon the intriguing scene featured in today's
picture...
Sitting right on the shoulder of the road was this old truck, all
covered with rust and overgrown with vines, looking as if it has
been waiting patiently for its owner to return someday and drive it
away. It has obviously been sitting there for a long, long time, and
one has to wonder just how it got there. Did the driver simply
abandon it on the side of the road after it "died"? Was it "parked"
there but never retrieved because something happened to the owner?
I guess we'll never know, but if that "old junker" could talk I'll
bet it would have quite an interesting story to tell!

You think like I do. I am always wondering what the story is
behind the scenes I find along the by-ways.
