A lazy summer day in Olivença, Brazil

As we Americans head into winter, I thought it would be nice to
reminisce about the warmer days of summer and the unusually mild
autumn that we recently
left behind. After all, with the long winter still to come, it can't
hurt to see a peaceful reminder that the cold winds and nasty
weather of the season will eventually give way to warm breezes and
lots of sunshine once again!
Today's picture by photographer Auro Queiroz features a warm, sunny day at
the beach in Olivença, Brazil. Yesterday marked the
winter solstice here in the northern hemisphere, but our
neighbors south of the equator enjoyed their summer solstice - which
means it is now officially summer down there.
Although there is probably some snow falling in some parts of the
U.S. as we speak, the folks in Olivenca and other parts of South
America are hitting the beaches and enjoying the great outdoors in
shorts and t-shirts. Oh well, we have had our turn, so I guess it's
only fair that they have theirs. Hmmm...I wonder how much a plane
ticket to Brazil goes for these days?
