Olivia Checking Out Her Halloween Costume

Yesterday was Halloween, and Cheria and I had a great time
taking our granddaughter Olivia "trick or treating". We made our
first stop at my mom's house in Widener Valley, Virginia where we
enjoyed spending a few minutes with mom as she admired Olivia's
"witch" costume. We took several pictures of her posing in her
outfit, but my favorite of the bunch is this one which shows her
checking her costume in a bedroom mirror.
Olivia is a beautiful little blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl who can absolutely light up a
room with her smile, but she has a tendency to put on a "fake" smile
when posing for the camera. That's why some of my favorite pictures
of her are candid shots taken when she wasn't paying attention. I was
attempting to sneak in a quick snapshot when she suddenly
turned to check her costume in the mirror - and the result is the
"Picture Of The Day".
Like most kids these days, Olivia is growing up more quickly than I
would like so I'm trying to capture as many images of her precious
childhood as I can while I still have the opportunity. I know it
won't be all that long before she stops trick-or-treating and doing
all of the other "kid" things that she enjoys so much right now.
Before I know it there will be a first date, proms, and eventually
college.
I love the fact that I'll get to see her grow up some day and become
a beautiful young lady and eventually strike out on her own, but I
hope it takes a while. I love that little blonde-haired, blue-eyed
girl with all my heart, and I'm in no hurry to see her relinquish
her childhood. The genetic cards have been dealt, and it appears that
Olivia will most likely end up being taller than I am. But
regardless of how high I have to stretch to give her a hug and a
kiss on the cheek, she'll always be my "precious
little granddaughter". Always.
