Picture of the day - February 17, 2009
"Sunshine through palm leaves"

Yesterday's picture took us to the chilly island of Iceland, but
this one takes us to a much warmer place: Costa Rica!
Photographer Andres Ojeda took this somewhat abstract, yet quite
beautiful photograph of the evening sun filtering through a canopy
of palm leaves at Costa Rica's Corcovado National Park.
As we slog through the cold winter days of mid-February here in
southwestern Virginia, I can only imagine what it would be like to
lounge around in a hammock in some tropical paradise and look
towards the heavens and see a relaxing sight like this.
Mr. Ojeda used this camera and settings to capture this image:
Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi
Focal length: 18mm
Shutter speed: 1/25 second
Aperture: f/3.5
ISO: 400

Superb photograph - great exposure and composition! Slightly off
topic, but I'm very happy that you have started providing the EXIF
data for the "Pictures of the Day". It really helps those of us who
are still learning the art and craft of photography in a big way!
Thank you so much!!!

With the winter we're having it sure would be nice to be lying in a
hammock somewhere on a tropical beach. I agree, wonderful picture.

Pardon me, but didn't I take this picture? Oh, sorry... that was
just me dreaming again. Great job Señor Ojeda.
