Parker Falls

Steve Minor.
Today's picture features Parker Falls, a gorgeous cascade of
cool, refreshing water located
in the mountains of northwestern Alabama. Photographer Steve Minor
somehow managed to capture every ounce of beauty to be found in this amazing
spot, and the following is his story behind the image:
"Parker Falls are located in Parker Canyon within the
beautiful
William B. Bankhead National Forest in northwest Alabama. Parker
Canyon displays a rugged and spectacular chaos featuring large
Eastern Hemlocks, Sweet Birch, American Holly, and Big-Leaf
Magnolia.
Displaying giant boulders and an abundance of wildflowers in
spring,
William B. Bankhead National Forest is Alabama's largest
national
forest, with some 180,581 acres. It is also home to
Alabama's only
National Wild and Scenic River, the
Sipsey Fork.
Bankhead has many
deep canyons and gorges, and more than
150 miles of hiking trails.
It is also home to the 25,002-acre
Sipsey Wilderness, sometimes
called the "Land of a Thousand
Waterfalls." The Sipsey Wilderness is
one of only two designated
wilderness areas in the state."
