My dad always loved to sit and watch the birds go about their
business, and at various times during his lifetime he raised and
kept a number of them as pets. One of his favorite birds of all was
the peacock, and I can remember a time when he had one "strutting
its stuff" as it walked around our back yard.
Today's picture features a very colorful peacock, and when I first
saw it I just knew that I had to make it a "Picture of the Day". I
love these little reminders of my dad, and this one is very special
indeed.

I was reared by a lady who kept peacocks. Lovely photo, lovely
memories.

Peacocks sure are pretty birds. Perhaps reducing the depth of field
would make it stand out more? Great photo!

My dad raised pea fowl on our farm in Arkansas back when I was
growing up. They really are beautiful animals. And while no picture
could ever do them justice, this one comes pretty close. I agree
about limiting the depth of field in order to make the peacock stand
out a lot more. But this is a fantastic image either as-is.
