Picture of the day -
January 11, 2008 A rural
Pennsylvania church house

All across the American heartland are churches both large and small,
beautiful houses of worship where God's people gather to
lift up His Holy Name in song, sermon and prayer. Today's picture
features just one of them, a small but very beautiful church house
located in rural Penn's Valley, Pennsylvania.
Like most churches in rural America, this one probably invites
everyone who walks through the doors on Sunday mornings to come and
help fill up the pews as the pastor prepares to bring a message from
God's Holy
Word. A word of welcome, a handshake, and the next thing you
know the visitors feel like they truly belong. That's the way it
should be in a House of God, and that's indeed the way it is in most
of them.
If you ever find yourself driving through a small rural community,
pay attention to the various churches that you'll surely be driving
past. Every one of them is special, as are all of God's
children, and the people who gather there on the Lord's day are the
backbone of our great nation.
