Picture of the day - November 28, 2008
"Pink flower"

A few days ago photographer Robert Schwarztrauber treated us to a
beautiful photograph of the
Victorian Conservatory at
Buffalo
Botanical Gardens. Today's picture gives us just a small taste
of what visitors will find once they venture inside. Here is Mr.
Schwarztrauber to tell us about it:
"Here's a lovely sample of God's handiwork, as nurtured by the
many volunteers at the Botanical Gardens in Buffalo. Taken at
mid-day under the massive glass panels, the light is nicely
diffused
allowing all the subtle shades of her beautifully soft
petals to
come alive.
One of the best things about shooting indoors this way is that
the
plants hold still! How many times have we seen in nature the
most
wonderful flowering plants but been helpless to capture
them because
of the wind. With that challenge removed, so many
more options
become available. And it's so much easier to get
the shot you
want...without the blur." --Robert Schwarztrauber
