Rainbow Bridge - Tokyo, Japan

Peter Hamza.
There are a handful of bridges around the world that are true
architectural and engineering marvels such as San Francisco's
Golden Gate and the
Sydney
Harbor Bridge in Australia. Today's picture features yet another
of the world's great bridges: Tokyo, Japan's
Rainbow Bridge which spans
Tokyo Bay between
Odaiba
and
Shibaura Wharf. Every inch of this bridge's 1,870 foot length offers
spectacular views of the waterfront and the world's largest city.
This magnificent structure gets it colorful name from the
multi-colored lights that illuminate it during the night. In
addition to the beauty they help create, these lights are also
interesting because of the way they operate. Like the small solar
lights that illuminate our lawns, the lights of Rainbow Bridge are
powered by batteries that are charged by sunlight throughout the
day.
The city of Tokyo offers her visitors the opportunity to experience
the beauty and culture of one of the world's oldest cities as well
as a host of modern structures that help brighten our world - like
magnificent Rainbow Bridge!
