Now that spring is here it's time to get out of the house and enjoy
the sights and sounds of nature once again. Every March the world
begins to come alive and our feathered friends are on the move in
preparation for summer. With today's picture, photographer Gordon
Brugman offers us just a glimpse at one such bird as it "takes off"
and heads up into the wild blue yonder. The following is his story
behind the image:
"It’s Spring and with the change in seasons come returning
visitors
to our area of East Tennessee. The river alongside Pigeon
Forge’s
historic Old Mill is almost crowded with all manner of ducks
and
geese. Growing fat and sassy from bread and biscuit bits thrown
by tourists, it’s a wonder some can get airborne at all. This
Canadian Goose had no problem heading skyward however,
having first
eaten his fill of treats.
I took advantage of my cameras 'Sport' mode to catch the
action with
a high shutter speed and rapid fire release."

Great capture Mr. Brugman. That has to be one of the hardest shots
to pull off, and you did it perfectly. Wonderful job!

I love to watch Canadian geese fly over, but I've never actually
seen one on or near the water. Nice.
