Picture of the day - January 7, 2009
Salzburg, Austria

Photo courtesy of Guenter M. Kirchweger.
Salzburg, Austria is one of the largest Alpine cities in the
world, and the 4th largest city in its beautiful country. Famous for
both its exquisitely preserved baroque architecture and as the
birthplace of
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Salzburg is one of Europe's most
popular travel destinations.
Photographer Guenter M. Kirchweger took this wonderful photograph of
Salzburg on a partially sunny day. I really like how he managed to
capture the light in such a way as to make the gorgeous buildings
really stand out from the background. A very nice image indeed!

Nice capture. My family is traveling to Europe in April and now I'll
definitely be adding Salzburg to our itinerary.

Today's picture is simply incredible. I have seen many shots of
Salzburg from pretty much that same spot, but the lighting in this
one makes it the best I have ever seen.

What a great scene Mr. Kirchweger captured in Austria. The river
that leads our eyes to that storybook village, the light, the
people, the steeple - all come together in that wonderful photograph
to create a most beautiful scene. Great photo Mr. Kirchweger!
