"Winter in the Scottish Highlands"

(Click on the photo for a larger view) America is a land of many heritages, blended together over time in this giant "melting pot" to create one of the most diverse nations on the face of our wonderful planet. The vast majority of the immigrants who came to these shores to help build the America that we all know and love today came seeking a better life for themselves and their families, and many of them came over from the beautiful country of Scotland. The British Isles boast some of the world's most spectacular scenery, and the Highlands of Scotland in particular are simply gorgeous as you can see in today's picture. Looking at photographs like this makes one wonder exactly why all those Scottish immigrants ever left the place, but as we all know circumstances sometimes require that we take actions that we would rather not take. No doubt many of our friends and neighbors with Scottish roots hold a deep affection for their ancestors' homeland, and for good reason. What a gorgeous country!
