Picture of the day - September 12, 2008
"Let us never forget"
Yesterday marked the 7th anniversary of the senseless terrorist attacks that
took place on our country back on September 11, 2001, and all across
our great nation solemn ceremonies were held and tearful prayers
were said as we paused to remember those who
lost their lives that day as well as those who have fallen in
defense of our freedoms in the years since.
Today's picture is a fitting tribute to our fallen countrymen, and
here is photographer Robert Schwarztrauber's story behind
it:
"On this anniversary of the devastating attack on our American
soil
in New York City I would like to submit this photo. Remembering that
Freedom's Light continues to shine on all Americans today because
of
the ultimate sacrifice that's paid - by the few - for the many. God
bless America and the heroes that fight for our freedom - yesterday,
today and always." --Robert Schwarztrauber
Let us never forget the pain we felt as a nation as we all watched
together in horror as those unbelievable acts of hatred unfolded
before our very eyes. Let us also never forget the sacrifices of the
men and women in uniform who did their very best that day and in the
days that followed to minimize the suffering and loss of life as a
result of those cowardly attacks.
And of course let us also never forget the men and women who proudly
wear the uniform of the United States Military as they fight our
battles for us all around the globe. We love you, we respect you,
and from the bottom of our collective heart we thank you for your
selfless service.
No, we will never forget.
