A singing meadowlark at Cades Cove

Today's picture features a lovely meadowlark just singing up a storm
while sitting on a dead tree branch. Photographer Kathy Youngblood
captured this wonderful image, and here is her story behind it:
"I was on the back side of Cades Cove one May morning when I
noticed a field with new green grass. Jutting way up out of this
very green grass were several dead woody sprigs. Sitting top of
most
all these sprigs were Meadowlarks just singing away. I stayed
for
the longest time to enjoy their songs. I wondered why I had
never
heard them in the afternoon, and then it hit me. They rise
up early
to sing their songs of praise to God!" --Kathy
Youngblood

We have several families of Meadowlarks living in the woods that
border our lawn, and you can hear them singing pretty much all day,
every day. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful picture with us.
