Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church - Abingdon, Virginia

The beautiful and historic town of Abingdon, Va is home to many beautiful churches, including the one featured in today's picture: Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church.

The history of Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church is just as rich as that of Old Abingdon itself. The first church building bearing the Sinking Spring name was built on the current site of Sinking Spring Cemetery, another of Abingdon's many historic venues. The original log structure was eventually replaced by a series of larger ones, including the one pictured above which has served the congregation well at its current Main Street location since its completion in 1890.

Today, Sinking Spring serves as an important cornerstone of the community, providing a beautiful place of worship for an ever-expanding congregation. It is also one of the featured attractions of the popular walking tours along the brick sidewalks that line the streets of Old Abingdon.
