Picture of the day - August 20, 2008
"Slice of summer"
Today's picture shows what can be achieved with a little imagination
and a bit of selective cropping. This image of a colorful summer
flower would no doubt have been quite beautiful if shown in its
entirety, but by cropping away all but 1/4 of the blossom
photographer Sharon Ragner forces us viewers to use a little
imagination of our own in order to construct our own mental image of
the scene.
In the hands of a skilled photographer, a camera can transform the
ordinary into something spectacular, adding a brand new dimension to
the way we view our world - and our lives.

This is a very nice picture of the sunflower. I like the cropping
that was done also. Well done Sharon!
