"Cloud-Capped Smoky Mountain Vista"

I've shared other images from this, my favorite overlook above
Gatlinburg, Tennessee. But as anyone who has ever visited The Great
Smoky Mountains will tell you, the vistas change almost from minute
to minute. Changes in the time of day, the weather or the time of
year present views that seem like old friends, yet are totally new.
It's wonderful to live in an area that keeps the wonder of Nature's
beauty alive. The constant surprises keep me from ever taking the
next moment for granted.
This is an HDR image comprised of three separate exposures, shot
with my trusty tripod-mounted Nikon D40. The images were combined
using Photomatix Pro and fine tuned in Photoshop CS4.

Sensational scene Gordon!! I never tire of seeing your wonderful
photos of the Smoky Mountains. It is a place that I probably will
never see in person, but thanks to you, we can all still see their
beauty. And your use of HDR here makes it all the better. All the
detail it can help to bring out and the clouds are just great!! I
wish that I had been standing right there with you enjoying the
scene before you!!
