Today's picture features a beautiful sunrise from the Smoky
Mountains of Tennessee. Here is photographer Gordon Brugman to
tell us about it:
"Sometimes it’s a real chore to drag ourselves out of bed to make
an early appointment, but the effort can be rewarded. I noticed this
colorful Smoky Mountain sunrise while still wiping the sleep from my
eyes as I drove to one such appointment a couple of days ago. I
pulled into a back road convenience store's parking lot and snapped
several shots from alongside my car as the store's regulars came
and
went with their cups of coffee and fresh hot sausage biscuits.
Once
I was sure I had captured the image I wanted, I treated myself
to
a celebratory biscuit as well and was on my way. What a nice way
to
start the day!
The shot, taken with my trusty Nikon D40, was deliberately
underexposed to saturate the colors and keep the sun itself from
becoming a white blob." --Gordon Brugman

Name: Richard Bulle Town: Ft. Smith, AR
I think your
intentional underexposure worked out very well. The colors are
striking.

Now this is something quite different. I like it a lot because
it resembles a fine art oil painting.

Town: South Bend, IN
Very interesting technique, and it seems to have worked
extremely well. Nice job Mr. Brugman. |
