A Backyard Winter Wonderland

On January 12 we received the first meaningful snowfall of the
season here in the Meadowview, Virginia area, so Cheria and I took
our cameras outside to take a few pictures. After we got back inside
and warmed up a bit, we took a look at the images we had captured.
We both agreed that
the one of our
snow-covered raccoon would make a nice "Picture of the Day", so I used it and we
more or less forgot about the rest of them.
Well, last night Cheria was browsing through her archived images
when she noticed the one shown above. She liked it a lot, and when
she showed it to me I liked it as well. It features the winter
wonderland that we awoke to find in our back yard that morning. Since
there was very little color in it anyway, I loaded it into Photoshop
Elements and converted it to black and white.
Thanks to the magic of digital cameras, Cheria and I take a lot of
pictures - at least several hundred a week in fact. Actually, we take so many
of them that really paying close attention to each and every one of
them is almost impossible. That's why every once in a while we'll go
back through our archives and find one that we really like, but
missed the first time through...like the one featured above!
