Although the "official" beginning of spring is still almost two
weeks away, there are several signs that its arrival is quite
imminent. Today's picture features one of my favorite signs of
spring: crocuses in bloom!
The hardy crocus doesn't wait for a calendar to tell it when to pop
its lovely head up through the ground and burst into bloom. It makes
up its own mind, and when it feels the time is right the leaves and
mulch must make way for the stubborn flower to reach for the sky and
brighten up the world after a long, cold winter.
As always, these beautiful little flowers were the first to blossom
this year, and they will soon be followed by the tulips. By the time
the "first day of spring" finally arrives on March 20, these little
jewels will be ready and waiting for summer!

What a beautiful contrast between the autumn colors of the leaves
and the bright crocus blossoms. Quite an exceptional image to be
sure.

The cycle of life on earth is amazing. In the fall everything dies
back and withers away, only to return as beautiful as ever in the
spring. What a wonderful Creator we have! I love this picture.

Today's picture reminds me of my grandmother's yard back home in
Beckley, WV. Her house sits in the edge of the woods and her back
yard is always covered with leaves. Every spring hundreds of
colorful crocuses pop up through the leaves and turn her yard into a
multi-colored carpet of blossoms. It's always so beautiful - just
like this picture.
