Dock And Marshland - St. Augustine, Florida

The great state of Florida boasts some of the most popular beaches
and theme parks in the world, and with its gorgeous sub-tropical
weather and spectacular scenery it's easy to understand why. I'm
sure you've seen the pictures that show an ecstatic child walking
hand-in-hand with a Disney cartoon character or the postcard-style
images of a happy couple lounging under a palm tree as they watch a
spectacular Florida sunset melt away all their troubles and cares...
But there is a lot more to Florida than just magnificent beaches and
Mickey Mouse! Just like every other state in the union, Florida has
its share of beautiful and interesting things to see and experience
besides the typical tourist attractions, and today's picture
features a simple, yet elegant example: a dock crossing some
beautiful marshland at St. Augustine.
On your next Florida vacation, why not set aside a day to just drive around and experience everything
that the Sunshine State has to offer? You just might be surprised
at some of the interesting things you'll find!
About the photo: Mr. Tom Shafer submitted today's wonderful picture, and the following
is his story behind the image:
"This is a favorite photo of mine. Why? Well, I don't really know.
I
just know that I
love this picture! It's late in the afternoon and
a strong storm
is
approaching our dock at Beachcomber Resort
in St. Augustine. At 1/5 of a mile, this
is in fact the longest dock
in Florida on the intercoastal waterway.
Most of us get our "walks" on this dock, and at
the
end, on most
evenings, we get the most beautiful sunsets on the
western horizon.
I have many beautiful pictures of those spectacular
Florida sunsets!"
