Today's picture features one of the country's best-known houses of
worship, St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. Here is
photographer Nick Sadowski to tell us about the photo:
"Of all the fabulous places to see and visit in a city as grand
as
New York City, my favorite place hands down is St. Patrick's
Cathedral located on 5th Avenue between 50th and 51st streets.
Every
time I visit NYC, it is always a must-see.
It is one of NYC's oldest churches, with construction beginning in
1858 and the work completed in 1879. The church was declared
a
National Historic Landmark in 1976. It served as the location
for
several papal masses (including the last two popes), and also
hosted
several funerals including Babe Ruth, Robert F. Kennedy,
Vince
Lombardi, and Joe DiMaggio.
I took 33 images (employing a monopod) of this magnificent
church
early on a Thursday morning and stitched them
together using
Photoshop." --Nick Sadowski

I would love to visit St. Patrick's some day. These huge old
cathedrals are true architectural treasures. Very nice job on the
picture.
