Star Trails over L’ancresse Bay

Craig Bullock.
When the magic of photography meets the science of astronomy, the
result is often a spectacular image of some pretty neat star trails.
Photographer Craig Bullock took this beautiful picture in the
Bailiwick of Guernsey, and the following is his story behind the
image:
"This shot was taken at L’ancresse Bay of the small island
of
Guernsey. L’ancresse is one of Guernsey’s largest beaches and
rated as one of Britain’s best. It was about 11pm on the night
of a
new moon, clear skies and a little low cloud/mist. To
capture the
stars trailing across the sky I used an exposure
of roughly 30
minutes. The orange glow is caused by light
beacons at the head of
the bay reflecting on the low cloud
making it look as if the sun is
setting." --Craig Bullock

What a nice effect on today’s picture! Very nice. I need to give
this a try someday except I will not have all the water and the
beacon. That really adds to the picture. Thanks for including how
the picture was done.
