Stonehenge

Photo of Stonehenge, England's most famous prehistoric structure.
Photo courtesy of Warren Stroud.          (Click on the photo for a larger view)

Ask most anyone to name two of the world's most intriguing prehistoric structures, and England's Stonehenge will most likely be one of them. There is plenty of speculation concerning the primary purpose of the famous monument, but one thing is certain: There are a lot of people buried there - hundreds, in fact. Whatever it's intended purpose, the construction of Stonehenge must surely have required some pretty keen engineering skills for its time given the massive sizes and weights of the stones.

Photographer Warren Stroud used the following camera and settings to capture this image:

    Camera: Sony Cybershot
    Focal length: 12mm
    Shutter speed: 1/470 second
    Aperture: f/4.8
    ISO: 100

One of the places I would love to visit. Is that 2 birds on the middle stone?

Yes, Phyllis. And there is another bird to their right in the deep gap between the stones.
