Today's picture features another beautiful winter scene, this time
from our neighbors up north. Here is photographer Shea Wyatt to tell
us about it:
"This photo was taken in Strathcona Park, Vancouver Island,
British Columbia. Due to late snowfall this winter, the park had
yet
to open to cross-country skiers, but there was sufficient
snow to
hike throughout most areas if using snowshoes. As such,
much of the
landscape was pristine, with few trails or tracks
disrupting the
perfect carpet of snow.
I took this photo late in the morning, but the sun was still low
enough to cast extremely long shadows. Positioning the sun
behind a
tree and using the tilt function of my lens to selectively
focus, I
hoped to capture a unique image of a scene which would
soon be
spoiled by human activities.
Photo data: ISO 100, 1/1000sec, f/8,
Canon EOS 1D Mark II,
Canon 24mm TS-E, Gitzo tripod."

This is a spectacular photograph Mr. Wyatt. I love the way the sun
is partially obscured by the tree top.

Wonderful effect with the sun. This is one of the most intriguing
