For most children the arrival of summer means an all-too-brief
respite from school and the opportunity to just be a kid in a world
in which being a kid is becoming more difficult each and every day.
I love this photograph because it reminds me of my own childhood
summers, the bulk of which were spent making frequent trips to my
favorite swimming hole. There is nothing like splashing around in
some cool, clear water for helping a child forget the cares of the
day and the inevitable return to the classroom in a few short weeks.
When you're a youngster, summers are just as fleeting as childhood
itself, and I believe it's our duty as adults to do everything within
our power to ensure that the children under our care enjoy both just
as long as possible.
This wonderful image was submitted by Tammy Sullivan, and this is
what she had to say about it:
"This picture was taken one day this summer while the Grandkids
were playing with the water hose in the backyard. I feel it screams
summer fun. We should all take time to enjoy and have fun in life.
Just go for it." --Tammy Sullivan

Your words are all too true. It seems like kids are "growing up" way
too early these days. Lovely photograph of a gorgeous little girl.

Tammy, this picture needs to be in a frame if it isn't already!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful grand child with us. I grew up
in the city and your pictures brings back memories of cooling off
under the garden hose. I might just get under the hose this weekend.
