Picture of the day - October 5, 2008
Sunrise at Grand Canyon National Park

The Grand Canyon is one of God's most magnificent creations, so
it's no wonder that thousands of visitors come each and every year,
camera in hand, to take home a few personal memories of the massive
river gorge. But as today's picture by photographer Rinske Blok
shows, there are plenty of wonderful photo opportunities in
Grand Canyon
National Park besides just the canyon itself.
With the sun just about to peek over the far horizon, the trees in
the foreground created striking silhouettes against the backdrop of
blue, yellow and red of the early morning sky. Lovely in its
simplicity, this is certainly one of the most striking sunset images
I have ever seen.

What a beautiful photograph! I'll bet that only a handful of the
Canyon's visitors take the time to check out other areas besides the
canyon itself. I know I didn't when I was there but I certainly will
next time.

Absolutely stunning. There is nothing else to say.

I've seen a lot of pictures from Grand Canyon National Park over the
years, and this one is one of the best. Would love to have seen the
result if the photographer had waited just 5 more minutes.
