Picture of the day - December 2, 2008
"Sunset Solitude"

Winston Rockwell.
Without a doubt, sunset can be the most peaceful time of the day,
and with today's gorgeous picture master photographer Winston Rockwell
brings us just a taste of the beauty and serenity that can often be
found at this most special of times...
"A moment of reflection... Summer is past, and winter is hard
upon us. The days are cold and dark, and the weather keeps us
indoors a lot more, but this season is also a good time to think
back, as we sit before a crackling fire with a hot cup of coffee
or
cocoa, on the things we've done over the past year, and how
fortunate we really are. With all the gloom and doom in the news
these days, it's sometimes hard to keep things in perspective,
and
it's often helpful to just stop and think about the blessings
we
still enjoy.
I don't know if the person on the dock in this photo was counting
his blessings or just enjoying the glorious sunset, but this image
always puts me in a contemplative mood, and starts me thinking
of
just how good life is, no matter what my stock portfolio is
doing.
Beauty like this may not pay the rent, but as long as I can
appreciate the wonder of God's creations and take pleasure in
special moments like this, I feel rich beyond measure."
