Nighttime View Across Sydney Harbor

Mark Haythorne.
The beautiful city of Sydney, Australia has one of the world's most
recognizable skylines, and as you can see in today's picture it is
simply amazing after the sun goes down!
The unique building on the left is the world-famous Sydney Opera
House, one of the most easily recognized man-made structures on the
planet. It serves as the permanent home of the Sydney Theatre
Company, Opera Australia, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra as well
as a temporary host to many touring theatre, ballet, and musical
productions. It also happens to be one of the world's most
photographed buildings.
Just as impressive as the Opera House is the Sydney Harbor Bridge
which links the cities of Sydney and North Sydney together across the harbor. At about a mile in length and sporting a massive
steel arch that rises 349 feet in the air, "The Bridge" is an
architectural marvel that rivals San Francisco's
Golden Gate Bridge both in size and beauty.
Sydney is a vibrant city with tons of exciting things for her
visitors and residents alike to see and do, and one of the most
rewarding activities of all is taking a nighttime walk along the
North Sidney shore of the harbor, a lovely place where you're sure to
find an amazing view of one of the world's most
memorable skylines!
About the photo: Today's picture was taken by
Mark Haythorne
at 11:30 on the night before New Years Eve, so the "?" is still
visible from just in front of Luna Park. He had always wanted to
take a photo of "The Bridge" at night so he ended up carrying his
tripod with him the whole day as it was spent in and around Sydney.
To see it all lit up was worth every minute as is the walk across
the bridge in the evening.
