Thanksgiving In America

U.S. Army.
As I sat here trying to select a photo to feature on this
Thanksgiving Day, I considered using one that shows a family happily
gathered around a dining room table that is overflowing with Turkey
and all the trimmings. But since we're a nation at war, I thought it
more appropriate to honor our men and women in uniform who have
volunteered to spend their Thanksgiving holiday in hostile lands
fighting for our freedom.
We Americans truly have much to be thankful for. We are blessed to
live in the most prosperous and generous country on the face of the
earth, and we enjoy a level of freedom that is only dreamed about
elsewhere. God has been good to us over the course of our existence
as a sovereign nation, and He continues to bless us today - even as
we struggle to live up to His expectations.
As we pause today to give thanks to the Lord for all His many
blessings, let's not forget to also thank and pray for our brave
soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines who won't be sitting at the
dinner table with their families back here in the states. Wars don't
pause for holidays - they rage on 24/7 until victory has finally been achieved.
Some of those who will spend their Thanksgiving Day fighting for our
freedom will pay the ultimate sacrifice, never again to enjoy a
holiday meal with their families or the freedoms they died
protecting. They deserve our heartfelt thanks
and our deepest respect. We owe our freedom to them as well as our
almighty God.
About the photo: A soldier serving in Iraq pauses to remember a
fallen comrade. May we back here at home set aside a few moments
sometime during the day to do the same.
