Mom's Thieving Squirrels

My mom
loves to look out her large glass doors and watch the action at her
bird feeders, and they certainly see plenty of business in the wintertime.
In fact, the
action is virtually non-stop with numerous cardinals, finches, blue jays,
woodpeckers and several other bird species flying in to dine at her
all-you-can-eat "seed and suet buffet".
This year mom's bird feeders are being visited by some folks who
really have no business being there: a gang of grey squirrels! The
brazen and bold little rodents simply swagger over, scamper up the post and
stuff themselves with all the bird seed they can hold - which
apparently is quite a lot!
Cheria, Olivia and I were visiting with mom yesterday afternoon when we saw
three of the furry bandits spring into action. Like a detective in a
low-budget movie, Cheria quietly made her way over to the door and began taking pictures of the crime
in progress - but
instead of running away the bold thieves just kept on eating! Well, at
least she was able to gather some hard evidence to turn over to the judge (mom)!
In the end, mom decided to go easy on the scoundrels and let them
eat to their hearts' content. After all, there is plenty of food to
go around - and those rascally rodents had to be the cutest little convicts
she had
ever seen!
