Phyllis watering her gigantic tomato plants

A few days ago our friend Phyllis sent Cheria and me a picture of
the gigantic tomato plants that she has growing on her front porch.
Since the attached message said the photo didn't really show a true
representation of the size of the plants, Cheria and I sort of
invited ourselves to pay Phyllis and Teddy a visit so we could take
a few pictures of our own of their mini vegetable garden.
We met our wonderful hosts at their home after church yesterday
afternoon, and after a little small talk we all headed out to the
front porch to check out those amazing tomato plants - and let me
tell you, they really were quite impressive as you can tell by
today's picture. In fact, they were about as tall as Phyllis!
Apparently, she really knows how to make things grow!
When Phyllis sent me her "tomato plant" picture, it took me back to
the days when my dad used to raise a large garden every year, and his
pride and joy was always
his tomato
patch. Dad always had the tallest tomato plants in the
neighborhood, and one slice of the juicy tomatoes they bore would
cover an entire slice of bread with a bunch more hanging out over the
edges. And best of all, those humongous tomatoes tasted better than
any others that I have ever eaten. No one that I have ever known
could grow tomatoes like my dad...but Phyllis' come pretty doggone close!
Well, Cheria and I had a great time photographing Phyllis' front
porch garden as well as a few other things that caught our
attention, but most of all we enjoyed spending part of a lazy Sunday
afternoon chatting with two of the nicest folks on the planet. What
a way to enjoy the Lord's day!
