An "umbrella tree" on the African Plains

If so, you also undoubtedly saw a number of "umbrella trees" with various animals resting beneath their branches while enjoying a respite from the unforgiving African sun. Umbrella trees are scattered all across the plains of Africa, and for most people their short but wide canopies are de facto icons of the continent.
