Picture of the day - February 18, 2009
"Valentine Rose"

More roses are sold on Valentines Day than any other day of the
year, and photographer Ron Trees has taken a photograph of a very
beautiful one for today's picture. They say "less is more", and in
the field of photography that is the case more often than not.
Rather than shoot the entire bouquet, Ron used a shallow depth of
field to concentrate the focus on a single red rose blossom. And as
you can see the result is simply gorgeous!
Here are a few words from Ron about the image:
"This is a close up of a rose from the dozen that I gave my wife
for
Valentines Day. She really liked them a lot. These roses
were really
pretty, but pale in comparison to my wife’s true
beauty!! The picture
was taken with my Sony A700 and Sony 100mm
macro lens."
