The Victorian Conservatory at Buffalo Botanical Gardens

Today's picture features one of Buffalo, New York's most beautiful
structures, the Victorian Conservatory at Buffalo Botanical
Gardens. Here is photographer Robert Schwarztrauber with the
details:
"Last weekend I took advantage of the chilly temperatures and
visited one of the many great indoor photo locations here in
Western
New York- the
Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens.
Designed by
Lord & Burnham, premier designers of Victorian glass
houses, this Victorian conservatory opened in 1900.
The gateway into the Frederick Law Olmstead-designed South Park,
the
unique tri-domed glass, wood and steel design was based on
the
famous Crystal Palace and Kew Gardens Palm House in England.
Today
there are less than 12 large Victorian conservatories in the
U.S.A.
and this is one of only two with the Tri-Dome design.
We are very fortunate to have been left such a legacy of beautiful
architecture from a time when Buffalo, NY was one of the wealthiest
cities in the country.
This building's exterior beauty is matched only by the beauty of the
gardens within. A must see for any photographer visiting Buffalo."
