I rarely feature "artsy" photos as "Pictures of the Day", but
every once in a while I see one that is simply too wonderful to pass
up. Today is one of those days...
In today's picture photographer Amber Wallace has managed to create
an image that is not only pleasing to the eye, but rather intriguing
as well. Her artistic use of vignetting was done to perfection,
leaving one to wonder just exactly what the sky looked like at that
moment. Was it about to rain in buckets, or was the lady carrying the
umbrella "just in case"? I suppose we'll never know, and I believe
that makes the photograph so much more effective.

Today's picture brings back so many wonderful memories. When I was a
little girl my grandma would take me outside when it started to rain
and hold a huge red umbrella over our heads and we would spend at
least half an hour splashing around in the puddles with our bare
feet. I loved that wonderful lady so much and miss her dearly, and
this picture brightened my day more than you will ever know. Thank
you Amber for sharing it with us, and thanks Rick for choosing yet
another WONDERFUL image for the Picture of the Day!

Yep, today's picture sure is a departure from the fine landscape

I would have to agree with all of the comments made so far. This is
an excellent photo which I have enjoyed seeing very much. Like
Robert said, you never know what you are going to find when you
visit here each day, but you DO KNOW that it is going to be good.
